It’s been a wild ride so far, but 2020 is not over yet. Our feature request board is heating up with items like Reporting, Email, and Contact Merging. We’re so close to making these happen, we just have to get a little housekeeping out of the way first.
In this release we’re announcing:
We have made some fundamental changes that affect how users, spaces, and now organizations interact with each other. Don’t worry, there is nothing you need to do though except for understanding the differences with the new model.
The Old Model vs New Model
In the old model, the user who created the space (known as creator) owned Spaces, and the users invited were associated with the Space. This created issues like the inability to pass the ownership of a space to another user, or give additional users access to billing.
With the introduction of Organizations – ownership of Users, Spaces and Billing has moved from the Creator to Organization. Every User who was previously the Creator of a Space will now be the Admin of an Organization which owns that Space.
With the creation of Organizations, we have added Organizational Roles. Every User invited to Space, becomes a Member of the Organization. This means users invited to Spaces can all be managed from one place, Organizational User Management.
We’ve added three Organizational Roles to make managing Organizations easier. Billing Admins are users with access to billing in Organizational Settings. User Admins can manage Users & Spaces. Admins can manage all three – Users, Spaces & Billing.
The Organizational User management page also allows you to add, remove, or update a users’ Space role. By managing Users from Organizations, you’ll be able to manage their access to Spaces or remove Users from the entire Organization.
As a part of this change, we have renamed Space roles from Creator, Manager, and Operator to Owner, Manager & Agent. While the Space Role names have changed, the permissions for these roles remain the same.
In addition to Organizational level User management, we’ve also added Space management. On the Space page, you’ll be able to see all the Spaces owned by the Organization along with the number of Users and Contacts in each Space.
This release also adds Billing properties to Organizations. The billing page allows companies to add their billing details like Company Name and Address as well as change their billing email. Invoices can be retrieved from here as usual.
Bits & Bobs
Although Organization Billing changes have required every team to work together, we’ve still managed to put together a few bits and bobs to make the platform even better.
LINE Channel Connection Simplified
LINE has recently issued an update to its LINE Official Account API. This has enabled us to make a slight change to the channel connection process by removing a step. This has made it easier to connect LINE Official Accounts to respond.io.
Increased Template Messages Character Limit
We’ve raised the character limit supported by Template Messages to 1024. This means you can now use even longer WhatsApp Template Messages on our platform.
Increased Bulk Tagging Limit
We introduced bulk tagging on the Contacts page a long while ago and up until now, it has been limited to 25 Contacts at once. We have now raised this limit to 100 Contacts.
