FAQs about the Bird SMS integration

Is MessageBird the same as Bird?

Yes. MessageBird rebranded as Bird. The respond.io integration works with Bird SMS numbers bought on Bird's Connectivity Platform, the original MessageBird dashboard.

Can I create a new Bird account to use with respond.io?

Not currently. Respond.io connects to Bird accounts on the Connectivity Platform, which no longer accepts new sign-ups, and Bird's newer Engagement Platform isn't supported yet. If you're new to SMS, connect Twilio or Vonage instead.

Who pays for SMS sent through Bird?

Bird does the billing. Bird charges for your number and each message you send, including broadcasts; your respond.io plan covers the inbox, not SMS fees.
